Transliteration

Lord Krishna tells Arjuna in unequivocal terms... those practicing samatva (equanimity) in all
phases of life finally transcend ocean of Samsara (worldly life) in all respects. Transcending both phases of
life... world of Punya karma and papa karma was essence of life. Maintaining equilibrium in both stages... at times
difficult to practice was not impossible. A nishkama karma yogi dwells on a much higher platform of spirituality
than physical planes of papa karma or Punya karma.
Whatever the results, positive or negative... a samatva Yogi viewed them equally!
Having vowed fruits of karma performed to God Almighty, a samatva Yogi finally gains emancipation from cycle of
birth and death. In Bhagavad Gita chapter 2 verse 50 Lord Srikrishna advises Arjuna to follow path of a samatva
Yogi (path of equanimity) to gain permanent liberation from karma bandhan (cycle of birth and death)! When fruits
of karma performed belonged to God Almighty... where was the question of I, our ego!
The Explanation

Everything in physical manifest world was directly governed by our ego. The moment we transcend our
ego forever, we reached stage of samatva (equanimity)! In field of pure spirituality, our ego had no role to play!
The workings of spiritual world totally differed from workings of manifest physical world. For a true seeker of
spirituality... diamonds were stones brightly polished! When we indulged in karma with a feeling of samatva
(equilibrium)... we had nothing to gain or lose!
As control of life always lay in hands of our true inner self... our soul atman,
the spirit within... results of every happening of physical manifest world also belonged to our soul atman, the
spirit within! Our soul atman, the spirit within manifested human form to work out its karma... remove dross
impurities within! This became possible when human beings utilizing their buddhi (intellect) intelligently indulged
in karma with a feeling of samatva, non-attaching self to fruits thereof.
The results of karma could result in gaining both... paap or punya! Remaining even,
indifferent in both circumstances of life is what samatva yoga all about. The primary objective of samatva yoga was
not different from nishkama karma yoga. In a way samatva yoga forms part of nishkama karma yoga! When we offered
fruits of all karma performed to God Almighty all the time, how could we be affected by the results thereof!
Through Geeta chapter 2 verse 50 Srikrishna extols virtue of travelling path of
samatva yoga to reach god in present life! On the physical manifest plane whenever a seeker of spirituality,
traveler of spiritual path indulged in something positive or negative... the voice of Lord Krishna, voice of our
soul atman, the spirit within prompts us to travel path of samatva by maintaining equilibrium in all phases of
life. A true seeker of spirituality ultimately realizes that beyond god nothing existed in cosmos!
For a true traveler of spiritual path, offering fruits of karma performed to God
Almighty was the best way out! To remove dross impurities within our soul atman, our permanent detachment from
results of karma performed was an absolute must! We had to dissolve our ego forever if we truly wanted to reach god
in present life. Those with a bloated ego, those pursuing material riches in life could never think of practicing
samatva (equanimity) to reach god. Such human beings indulged in religion (path of rituals)!
Human form was the highest manifest stage in cosmic life cycle. It was only in
human form our soul atman could gain absolute purity and finally liberate self from cycle of birth and death
forever. As a human being it becomes our prime duty to assist our soul atman in reaching cosmic end of life...
stage of moksha salvation! By indulging in samatva (equanimity)... we were only assisting our true inner self...
our soul atman, the spirit within that resides in our heart!
Even though goal of spiritual life always was helping humanity... by practicing
samatva we were indeed helping our true inner self. As Lord Krishna... our soul atman, the spirit within was God
Almighty existing within us in miniscule form... by undertaking path of samatva, we had nothing to lose in life!
Leading a virtuous life in present materialistic world was difficult, but not impossible! By practicing highest
level of patience, persistence and perseverance... any human being world over could practice samatva as indicated
by Lord Krishna to Arjuna!
Lord Krishna advises Arjuna to fight the enemy in the battlefield of Mahabharata by
practicing samatva (equanimity) in all stages of war! It was not for Arjuna to worry about outcome, whether
positive or negative! For a truthful person, an excellent warrior like Arjuna... indulging in war of dharma
(righteousness) was the call of day. When Dharmaraja (Lord Krishna) himself was siding Pandavas, Arjuna had nothing
to fear! Alternatively even Lord Krishna had full faith in capabilities of Arjuna.
Lord Krishna summarizes... what could be nobler that to kill karma, our indulgence
in karma was necessitated! The complex workings of karma were inbuilt into every Jiva (living being). Based on
dross impurities within our soul atman... every living being indulged in karma positive or negative! When a
traveler of spiritual path viewed results of karma with equanimity, one finally crossed all hurdles of spiritual
path, gaining absolute control over five senses and mind at the end of journey.
