Transliteration

In Bhagavad Gita chapter 2
verse 38 Lord Krishna enumerates benefits of indulging in Svadharma. As a Kshatriya Warrior, as chieftain of
Pandava camp it was duty of Arjuna to fight and defeat the enemy. If he still felt that by doing so he would
incur any sin then he was advised to look within. Lord Krishna advises Arjuna to remain equipoise in all
circumstances of life as the journey of life belongs to our soul atman, the spirit within and not the manifest
physical human form!
In Geeta Chapter 2 Verse 38 Lord Krishna also advises
Arjuna to act as a true trustee of god, for nothing belonged to him! Sri Krishna advises Arjuna to practice
equanimity as fruits of karma performed by human beings always belonged to our soul atman, the spirit within! For a
Kshatriya Warrior like Arjuna... both sufferings and happiness... defeat or victory, losses and gains were two
sides of the same coin. As we were only an instrument in hands of God Almighty, doing its bidding should be our
only goal of life! Krishna finally advises Arjuna to fight this war of dharma (righteousness), irrespective of
affiliations of physical manifest world. Full attention, concentration of Arjuna was needed to win
this war.
As per Sri Krishna beyond the physical manifest world existed; world of souls' atmans, the
spirit within! While indulging in one's duty, no sin of any kind is incurred as per Sri Krishna! Arjuna fighting
battle of dharma (righteousness) was in larger interest of mankind, having nothing to do with personal
relationships. No matter how precious the individual relationship, for the sake of mankind Arjuna had to indulge in
battle of Mahabharata (War of righteousness). Practically speaking... Arjuna had no other choice! He was destined
to play role of a righteous person in order to re-establish dharma (righteousness). As an avatar, it was duty of
Sri Krishna to prepare Arjuna to fight this war of dharma.
The Explanation

As everything contained in
Srimad Bhagavad Gita was an allegory to explain hidden fundamental truths of life... through Bhagavad Gita
chapter 2 verse 38 Lord Srikrishna clarifies to Arjuna necessity of indulging in ones karma, in absence of
which nothing could be achieved in spiritual world... the world of the spirit. For undertaking spiritual
journey, for gaining success on path of spirituality... our negating karma to zero was mandated by God
Almighty! We just could not leave karma midway as did Siddhartha Gautama. Just by touching feet of wife and
child one could never absolve self of karma forever.
Karma needs to be burnt in entirety if we wanted to reach stage of enlightenment
(kaivalya jnana) in present life. Law of karma demands our establishing absolute control over five senses and mind
before we could negate karma to zero. For establishing absolute control over five senses and mind, our controlling
forces of Moha (extreme emotional attachment), all desires and passions were necessitated. There were too many
factors involved that need total suppression before one becomes an enlightened one... a bodhi, a Jina... a Mahavira
forever!
Karma could never be suppressed; it has to be burnt in totality. This becomes
possible when we practiced karma nishkama karma way. This simply means... indulging in karma in a way that we
offered fruits of karma performed to God Almighty all the time. Human beings are infested with a bloated ego that
does not permit one to indulge in nishkama karma yoga easily. For travelling spiritual path successfully, our
establishing absolute control over ego was mandated by god. This becomes possible when we realized that we were
only a trustee in hands of God Almighty.
The actual control of life always lay in hands of soul atman, the spirit within!
Through path of contemplation, through path of self enquiry (Neti... not this, not this) human beings slowly
realized that we were not a physical manifest form manifesting a soul atman, the spirit within! We were in fact a
spiritual being... a spirit, a soul atman that manifested human form to work out its karma, remove dross impurities
within! We slowly realized when control of life lay in hands of our soul atman, the spirit within... the role of
ego in day-to-day spiritual activities of life must be reduced.
By this process of contemplation, self enquiry we slowly learnt the delicate art of
demolishing karma in its roots. The moment we gave control of life in hands of our soul atman, the spirit within...
the spiritual journey of life became simple and easier! We finally realized that Srikrishna existed in our heart
all the time as our soul atman, the spirit within! The consciousness within us, the extraterrestrial power within
us was Lord Krishna residing in our heart all the time. When we followed path of absolute truthfulness always and
ever, we could hear promptings of our soul atman coming from within. This was Lord Krishna trying to prompt us from
within all the time.
Practicing truthfulness all along, we could hear the sweet small inner voice of our
soul atman that always guided us on right path. All human beings, rather all living beings on mother earth had
their Srikrishna residing within their heart. If we try to look within... we would find our Krishna! This is what
spiritual journey is all about. Trying to reach our soul atman, the spirit within is trying to reach Lord Krishna
within us. The promptings of Lord Krishna were always right. We could never go wrong if we tried to hear promptings
of soul atman from within. As stated by Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita, it is our soul atman, the spirit within that
desires reaching its cosmic goal of life... 8.4 millionth manifestation, last in cosmic life cycle! As human beings
it becomes our duty to assist our soul atman in reaching cosmic end of life.
Why search for god in temples, churches or mosques when essence of life existed in
our heart as our soul atman, the spirit within! As detailed by Lord Krishna in Chapter 2 Verse
38, if we truly wanted to reach god in present life, we had to act as a trustee of god... offering fruits of
karma performed to God Almighty all the time. Our indulgence in nishkama karma was the only way to demolish karma
forever. Establishing control over five senses and mind was not that easy. It requires highest level of patience,
persistence and perseverance that could ever be practiced by human beings to reach god in present life. Swami
Vivekananda exactly did that and so could we.
As advised by Lord Krishna... we have to fight evil within! Only then we could
crush negative forces of karma forever. Under no circumstance of life we could abandon karma to undertake journey
of spiritual path. Thousands, multitudes who flocked religious centers' like Haridwar, Rishikesh or Varanasi failed
to realize that without burning karma in totality nothing in field of pure spirituality could ever be realized.
Just by running away from home... we never really gained anything spiritual in life. God can never be reached via
path of religion (path of rituals). God Almighty can only be reached via path of spirituality that mandates walking
path of contemplation, self enquiry as practiced and preached by Maharishi Ramana, one who reached god in his
lifetime!
All my life I have never been to a temple, church or mosque. I always believed in
god existing in my heart in miniscule form as my soul atman, the spirit within! I started in search of god 13 years
of age. 25 years of yoga meditation... I finally reached god in the wee hours of third of Aug 1993 at 37 years
of age. Even a few minutes before realizing self, realizing god... I did not know what was happening to me. It was
only when God Almighty gave me a lengthy dictation... I came to understand that my spiritual journey of life had
finally come to an end! All my life I believed in god in totality... so much so that if God himself came disguised
to diminish my faith in him... I would have not! I always believed in power of absolute truthfulness. Throughout my
life I have remained truthful to the core of my heart.
In Bhagavad Gita chapter 2 verse 38 if Lord Krishna says to indulge in karma, nishkama karma
way... we must contemplate on the same and realize its significance! We must distance self from attachments of
physical manifest world that bonded us all the time. Earthly relationships were ephemeral, carrying no meaning in
spiritual world! The moment death of mortal frame occurred, all fame and name of mortal world was left behind. What
carried to next life was... residual balance of karma! It was in our interest to indulge in good karma, positive
karma all the time to reach god in present life!
