Bhagavad Gita Chapter 2 Verse 7 
कार्पण्यदोषोपहतस्वभावः पृच्छामि त्वां धर्मसम्मूढचेताः ।
Karpanya doshopahat svabhavah Transliteration Even path of dharma (righteousness) does not seem to motivate him. Bhagavad Gita
chapter 2 verse 7 confirms that in absence of total submission to God Almighty... nothing much could be achieved on
spiritual path! Utterly confused, Arjuna seeks guidance from Lord Krishna... his spiritual mentor, preceptor! Due
to inborn humaneness present in Arjuna, he is not willing to strike the enemy head-on. No amount of convincing from
Krishna helped. Yet, Arjuna demands of Krishna... help in times of need! As Lord Krishna fully believed in capabilities of Arjuna, it was only a matter of time before Arjuna agreed to sayings of Krishna! Just because Krishna said so, Arjuna did not accept any doctrine on face value! Unless he was fully convinced from within, he did not follow dictates of Lord Krishna blindly! For a true spiritual seeker, path of contemplation was the best antidote! Arjuna asking for
guidance from Lord Krishna in battle with Kauravas... effectively conveys to Lord Krishna his desire for total
submission. Until now Arjuna considered Krishna as his close friend, advisor and guide. But to learn intricacies
of life, one had to accept the other as his teacher. Krishna knew that until Arjuna did that... he would take
words of Krishna lightly. For Krishna to impart jnana (wisdom) to Arjuna, his total acceptance and faith in
teachings of Krishna was an absolute must.
In absence of total faith in Lord Krishna,
Arjuna could not successfully win battle of Mahabharata. For total submission, we need subduing our ego forever,
establishing absolute control over five senses and mind. This was no ordinary task. Only one capable as Arjuna
was fit to forego his ego. For Arjuna to assimilate teachings of Lord Krishna, total submission was the call of
day. The moment Arjuna realized gravity of situation, he requested Krishna to become his spiritual mentor and
guide forever. Arjuna ultimately realized that he had to become a perfect pupil. Even though his arch enemies Kauravas were prepared to fight the battle of
Mahabharata, he was not internally prepared for the same! He had some doubts clarification of which he sought from
Lord Krishna. Realizing his temporal failure... he finally offered his total submission at the feet of Lord
Krishna. This proves that by this time Arjuna had realized cosmic powers of Lord Krishna. Though Lord Krishna was
one amongst us... still, he was an avatar... saviour, messiah embodying a human form. Arjuna acknowledges that it was only Krishna who could make him choose between path
of dharma (righteousness) and adharma (lawlessness). Moha (extreme emotional attachment) towards elders in the
enemy camp was deterring him from fighting war of dharma (righteousness). He wanted to be doubly sure before
abandoning interest of his elders in the battlefield. As the warrior chieftain of Pandava camp his duty was to
fight the enemy... no matter who it consisted of! But a man, poor in heart... could never be sure of victory in
war. By surrendering self in totality to Lord Krishna, an avatar of his era (God
manifest in human form)... Arjuna surrenders his ego before Lord Krishna. He wanted to hear from Krishna all that
was beneficial for him... more so while facing enemy in war. He wanted to understand the underlying meaning between
dharma and adharma. Moha compelled him to abandon the war whereas adharma propelled him to fight the war. He wanted
to know his Dharma following which he would not be termed a sinner in eyes of God. In spiritual parlance, Bhagavad Gita chapter 2 verse 7 clearly indicates that total submission to God Almighty in totality was an absolute must if one wanted to reach God in present life. Travelers of spiritual path, Desirees wanting to reach god... At one time or another confused whom to follow... the inner dictates coming from our soul atman, the spirit within or bondages of ephemeral life prompted by our feelings of Moha (extreme emotional attachment) towards our loved ones. Those who gave birth to us were our priority or the inner journey! The choice was purely ours. God had imbibed human beings with that special power of
discrimination which helped us distinguish right from wrong. As human form was the highest manifest stage in cosmic
life cycle... it was purely upon us to manifest destiny. Whether or not to fight battle of Mahabharata was
prerogative of Arjuna alone. As Arjuna represented Pandava army in battle of Mahabharata, it was he who had to
decide the outcome of war! In practical life, every single human being has to independently decide one's journey of
life in cosmic system! As per Lord Krishna... no two lives were connected to each other on a permanent basis! Everyone was independent to decide their journey of life. When in turmoil, when in doubt... one must seek guidance from our true inner self that resided within us in miniscule form as our soul atman, the spirit within! The voice of our soul atman, the spirit within that seemed to come from within our heart never guides us on wrong path. It is prompted by voice of our soul atman, the spirit within I finally reached God in 1993 at 37 years of age. This is my last manifestation on mother earth... 8.4 millionth manifestation! For total submission to God almighty... we had to subdue our ego in totality. When
everything in cosmic system was created by God Almighty... we were only a pawn, a trustee in the affairs of his. We
as a human being must live life like a trustee... offering fruits of karma performed to God Almighty all the time!
Every inch of karma performed by us belonged to God Almighty. We were only a doer... a medium for our soul atman,
the spirit within to reach its cosmic goal of life! When everything belonged to God Almighty... why indulge and mar
our present or future. Moha (extreme emotional attachment) towards our loved ones was a big hurdle on path
of pure spirituality. Those we considered our own were only related to in flesh. On a grand scale, in eyes of
God... we were doing bidding of our soul atman the spirit within all the time. As long as we remain attached to our
loved ones... our undertaking spiritual journey was in absolute doubt! We had to cut across all shackles of Moha
(extreme emotional attachment) if we desired reaching God in present life. The relationships of present life were
ephemeral... temporal! Similar as changing of guards at Buckingham Palace... every soul atman changed body
when death of body occurred in present life. In cosmic domain... death carried no meaning! What was perceived as
death by human beings... was just a changing of garment by our soul atman, the spirit within! When promoting from
class 1 to 2, we normally get a new blazer... a new journey of life where there would be many new friends. Similar
is the case in cosmic system. After death of human body... our soul atman, the spirit within immediately manifests
a new body based on residual balance of karma of that moment. Manifestation to manifestation, body after body... our soul atman, the spirit within keeps changing life forms based on inscrutable laws of karma. The closing balance of present life becomes opening balance for next manifestation. When essence of life lay in hands of God Almighty... why worry of Moha (extreme emotional attachment) with those we loved. At some point of time, even those we love may decide to start their spiritual journey of life. Before they are serious about their spiritual journey... all family relationships have to come to naught as happened in case of Siddhartha Gautama. Just by touching feet of wife and child, Siddhartha Gautama left house forever. If our goal of life is fixed... we would never dwindle in making tough decisions of
life. Arjuna faltered as he had yet to firm up his present goal of life, which was fighting the enemy head-on! If
Arjuna decides to fight the enemy, it was not only because he headed Pandava army but also had to succeed in
re-establishing Dharma (forces of righteousness) against evil forces of adharma (lawlessness). The prompting to
travel path of Dharma (righteousness) was given to Arjuna by Lord Krishna, God embodied as his charioteer. Whenever
in doubt... his charioteer Lord Krishna came to his rescue but only when he had totally submitted to him. Unless we kill our ego, until we removed all traces of physical I, one could not undertake spiritual journey sincerely and diligently. Without total submission to God... none could reach God in present life! Simply by indulging in rituals (following path of religion)... one never reached God! We had to scuttle all our earthly relationships forever if we were to succeed on spiritual path. Doing away with relationships does not mean leaving our karma midway. We just could not do that. We just could not repeat the path initially taken by Siddhartha Gautama. Just by touching feet of wife and child... we could not absolve self of our karma. Karma had to be burnt in totality to reach God. By taking care of those dependent
on us, we were temporarily prolonging our spiritual journey. We had no other alternative. We were responsible for
karma of those dependent on us until they reached a particular level of maturity. In girls... it was like by the
time they got married and settled well in life. In case of boys... by the time they entered a profession and
settled in life. The moment we were comfortable to see those dependent on us behaving independently... we could go
on spiritual path to reach God. On earthly scale... we could never leave anything midway, relating to any
relationship whatsoever. It was only then we could kill our karma... negate karma to zero in totality! Absolute control over five senses and mind can only be achieved by negating karma
to zero. For reaching God in present life... our establishing absolute control over five senses and mind was an
absolute must. On the spiritual scale, Lord Krishna was like our soul atman, the spirit within that always prompted
us on right path! Any human being world over... belonging to any religion, faith or belief can hear the sweet small
inner voice of our soul atman, the spirit within to reach God in their lifetime. One requisite for hearing the
voice of our soul atman was... being truthful in life, always and ever! Unless we were hundred percent truthful...
we could not hear voice of our soul atman, the spirit within... Lord Krishna that existed within us in miniscule
form in our heart! We have to learn the delicate art of power of discrimination to distinguish right
from wrong at every stage of life. For following path of dharma (righteousness)... promptings of our soul atman,
the spirit within came to our rescue all the time! Those who were mesmerized by glare of materialistic riches like
Duryodhana followed path of adharma (lawlessness) to achieve their desire goals... never realizing that such goals
could not be achieved when Dharmaraja (Lord Krishna) himself existed in battlefield. Lord Krishna acting as
charioteer of Arjuna simply indicates presence of god in our heart in miniscule form as our soul atman, the spirit
within! In the spiritual parlance... the chariot stands for human body. The moment reins of our body lay in hands of our true inner self... our soul atman, the body within... success on spiritual path was not far behind! In simple words, bhagavad gita chapter 2 verse 7 conveys a very broad and
far-fetched meaning... follow path of absolute truthfulness to hear sweet small inner voice of your soul atman, the
spirit within. This would give you impetus to exercise power of discrimination, enabling one to distinguish right
from wrong. This power of discrimination would help us scuttle Moha (bondage of earthly relationships) to follow
path of dharma (righteousness) and finally reach god in present life. There was nothing nobler than following path
of dharma (righteousness) in all affairs of life. This is what God Almighty wants us to do all the time. Bhagavad Gita Study Circle: a meeting point for people from all
