Transliteration:

In Bhagavad Gita chapter 2 verse 55 Lord Krishna
details to Arjuna path to reach stage of Sthitaprajna (one who finally succeeds in establishing self in God
Almighty). Literally a Sthitaprajna stands for one about to reach stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana). To reach
stage of Sthitaprajna, as per Lord Krishna... demolition of all desires in totality was necessitated. All desires
emanated from our ego. Literally speaking no ego... no desires! In a materialistic world desires were limitless.
Control over desires leads to control over five senses and finally mind. All desires must be eradicated from their
roots.
Unless we learnt to control our passions, desires could never be controlled! A slow
and steady control over desires senses and mind finally lead to feelings of totally contentment from within!
Unmindful of external world... we as a soul atman, the spirit within all the time concentrated our thoughts on God
Almighty. So much so that external environment totally failed to disturb us. We were now fully engrossed in inner
world of souls atmans, the spirit within! Trivialities of ephemeral world at this stage could not disturb us. For a
Sthitaprajna... none other than true inner self and God Almighty existed in whole cosmos!
Such a state is also called stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi (State of absolute nothingness) when
not a single thought flowed to our brain uninvoked. When human beings reached stage of single point
concentration... one could easily realize that apart from God Almighty nothing exists in cosmos! All souls’ atmans
were part of God Almighty. How? A single grain of sand is an independent soul atman... the whole mound God
Almighty! An individual piece of puzzle is an independent soul atman, the completed puzzle God Almighty! The sum
total of all souls’ atmans in cosmos in their pure form is what we called God Almighty in all its glory (termed
Brahman in Hinduism... Parmatman)!
The Explanation

Lord Krishna addresses
Arjuna... O Partha (son of Kunti), reminding him again of his revered lineage! Srikrishna reminds Arjuna
importance of establishing total control over five senses and mind. Control over senses and mind could only be
established by nipping all desires in bud! For establishing control over desires... we had to control our ego!
Total control over ego can only be established by indulging in karma nishkama karma way. When we worked as a
true trustee of God Almighty all the time... we finally succeed in demolishing ego forever. A difficult task
but not impossible!
In the present materialistic world, people often flaunted bloated egos that carried
no weight in spiritual world. In the world of spirits there was room for only one entity... our ego or our true
inner self... our soul atman, the spirit within! It was in our interest that we kill our ego and let Lord Krishna
do his work. The soul atman living in our heart was Lord Krishna existing in all its glory! We need not go in
search for a spiritual master when Dharmaraja Lord Krishna himself existed within us all the time! The presence of
Lord Krishna within us can only be recognized by walking path of absolute truthfulness and simultaneously
surrendering our ego on altar of God Almighty! If we failed to do that, we could never hear the sweet promptings of
Lord Krishna coming from within! Lord Krishna existing within always guided us on right path.
For Lord Krishna to take hold of our life... we had to totally surrender self to
God Almighty! Only then we could completely demolish ego from within! We had to become a true soldier of God, a
true trustee of God... to reach stage of Sthitaprajna in present life! Only one free of desires can travel path of
pure spirituality sincerely and diligently. Control over mind demands our establishing absolute control over five
senses first. The moment we successfully established control over five senses, control over mind came
automatically! Control over mind power in totality means reaching stage of Sthitaprajna (one established in God
Almighty all the time)! Becoming a Sthitaprajna was first step towards gaining enlightenment in present life. With
Lord Krishna within, travelling path of spirituality was not that difficult as most human beings world over
thought!
